Sebsibe Elias Lodiso serves as the Director of the Geographic Expansion in the Great Commission Ministry Ethiopia. Sebsibe has served in Great Commission with dedication since 2017. He has been happily married to his wife, Rediet Solomon, since 2018. Together, they are the proud parents of five-year-old twin daughters, Wudase Sebsibe and Elilta Sebsibe, whose names both mean “Praise,” reflecting the family’s strong faith and gratitude.
Sebsibe’s academic journey began with a Bachelor’s degree in Public Health from Hawassa University. After working briefly in the healthcare field, he felt a calling to ministry, which led him to pursue a second degree. He earned a Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership from the International Leadership University Ethiopia, equipping him with the skills and knowledge to lead effectively within the ministry.
Sebsibe's ministry career is rooted in a profound commitment to evangelism and discipleship. He started his ministry journey as a full-time field missionary, where his primary focus was on evangelizing and making disciples of Jesus. His leadership potential was quickly recognized, leading to a series of significant roles within the ministry.
• Team Leader for the Student Led Movement, Hawassa Regional Office: In this role, Sebsibe worked closely with students, guiding them in their spiritual journey and helping them build a strong foundation in faith. He was particularly focused on addressing and combating false teachings and spiritual discipline issues among students, especially those in Hawassa high schools. His efforts led to the establishment of new high school fellowships across the region, providing students with a supportive community to grow in their faith.
• Regional Director, Hawassa Regional Office: As Regional Director, Sebsibe’s leadership had a transformative impact on the region. He prioritized staff recruitment and associate development, leading to a doubling of full-time staff and a tripling of associate staff within three years. His work in mobilizing the city for various events, such as student conferences, church and government leadership development summits, and evangelism and prayer conferences, was instrumental in fostering strong partnerships with over 80 churches. Under his leadership, the Hawassa region saw the planting of more than 300 new churches and groups, with thousands of individuals committing their lives to Christ.
• Director, Geographic Expansion Office: Currently, Sebsibe leads the national efforts for geographic expansion focusing on coaching and mentoring to regional leaders to promote healthy growth within the ministry and organizational leadership, assisting existing offices in achieving self-sustainability and enhancing ministry effectiveness, collaborating with the National Office and respective regions to launch new branch offices in alignment with national strategies, facilitating the fulfillment of day-to-day operational needs for regional offices at the national level, ensuring seamless integration between the National Strategy and regional offices, supporting the implementation of national projects at the regional level, ensuring the provision of adequate staff support in coordination with Operations/Fund Capacity, and facilitating planning, reporting, and evaluation processes at the regional level.
One of Sebsibe’s most remarkable achievements was organizing the Bensa Daye Prayer Conference, a significant event that brought together 2,000 church leaders from 500 different churches across the Sidama region. This four-day conference focused on prayer and repentance, addressing the sins committed in the region during a period of political transition. The conference provided a much-needed platform for Sidama church leaders to come together, seek God’s mercy, and pray for their region. This event stands out as a milestone in Sebsibe’s ministry career, reflecting his deep commitment to spiritual renewal and community healing.
Sebsibe values work-life balance and makes a conscious effort to spend quality time with his family. He uses his weekly off days for family activities, reflection, and prayer. Additionally, he takes annual leaves to travel, rest, and raise ministry support, ensuring that he remains refreshed and energized for his demanding role.
Outside of his ministry responsibilities, Sebsibe enjoys traveling, driving, and watching movies. He also has a knack for fixing things at home, finding joy in practical tasks that allow him to unwind and relax.
Sebsibe is deeply motivated by witnessing the transformation of lives through faith in Jesus Christ. Leading passionate people in the harvest and fulfilling the Great Commission is what drives him every day. Looking to the future, Sebsibe aspires to expand his influence and contributions beyond Ethiopia, aiming to play a significant role in advancing God’s Kingdom across Africa and globally.
In addition to his primary role, Sebsibe also serves as the National Leader for Alumni and Leadership Development Core Strategy in the Student Led Movement and as the National Project Leader for the Global Church Movement Next-Gen Initiative. These roles allow him to mentor and develop the next generation of leaders within the ministry, ensuring that the work of the Great Commission continues to flourish.
Sebsibe encourages aspiring professionals in his field to be humble, hardworking, committed, and loyal to both God and the ministry. He believes that these qualities are essential for anyone seeking to make a meaningful impact in ministry work.
