The University and College Movement within SLM is driven by a set of fundamental strategies aimed at advancing the fulfillment of the Great Commission within higher educational institutions and extending its reach beyond these boundaries. Central to the effectiveness of these strategies is the essential participation of various key stakeholders, including student leaders, alumni, and full-time staff members. Their active involvement and collaborative efforts serve as the linchpin of the movement's success, providing invaluable leadership, mentorship, and organizational support.
Student leaders play a crucial role in mobilizing their peers, fostering a vibrant community of believers, and spearheading impactful initiatives on campus. Alumni contribute their wealth of experiences and insights, guiding the movement with wisdom and perspective gained from their own journeys. Meanwhile, the dedication and expertise of full-time staff members ensure the seamless coordination and implementation of strategic endeavors aimed at furthering the mission of SLM. Together, these individuals form a dynamic network, united in their commitment to advancing the Kingdom of God and making a tangible difference in the lives of students and communities alike.
In this sub strategy, our focus lies on fostering spiritual growth and outreach through a comprehensive set of initiatives:
A. Prayer: We encourage personal devotion time, prayer, and fasting, fostering a culture of spiritual renewal and revival among students. Through corporate prayer gatherings involving staff, alumni, and students, we unite in seeking God's guidance and empowerment. Additionally, we actively mobilize and coordinate students to engage in prayer within their fellowships, supported by initiatives like the Five Minutes Prayer Mobilization.
B. Evangelism & Mission: Our evangelism efforts encompass one-to-one outreach through methods like the 4SP approach and segments from the Jesus Film. We also prioritize on-campus evangelism utilizing proven strategies such as PCS (Personal, Contextual, Strategic) methodologies. Moreover, we embark on missions, including mini, break, and summer missions, extending our reach beyond campus borders.
C. Discipleship: We invest in the growth and development of alumni through structured processes aimed at deepening their faith and equipping them for leadership roles. Action group training and the establishment of new life groups provide avenues for students to grow spiritually and build community.
D. Leadership Development: Leadership training programs empower students to lead effectively within their spheres of influence. Additionally, action group training equips emerging leaders with practical skills and knowledge necessary for guiding their peers in their faith journeys.
E. Mobilization: Our mobilization efforts include hosting national leadership summits, such as the Fire Seeds Student Mobilization Conference, where students are equipped and inspired to make a difference on their campuses and beyond. We also leverage digital platforms for evangelism, utilizing technology to reach a wider audience with the message of Christ. Through initiatives like the Five Minutes Prayer Mobilization, we maintain a consistent focus on prayer as the foundation of our endeavors.
